Vascular Imaging (CT Angiography & Doppler Ultrasound)

Vascular imaging is the study of the veins and arteries in the body. These studies can be performed via computed tomography (CT) or ultrasound, and the type of modality chosen is dependent on your symptoms and region of interest.

CT Angiography (CTA) involves using x-rays to generate fine slices of the blood vessels with an addition of an intravenous iodine contrast injection to highlight the blood vessels.

NIA Diagnostic Imaging performs all CTA studies including:

  • CT Cerebral/Circle of Willis Angiography
  • CT Pulmonary Angiography
  • CT Coronary Angiography & Calcium Scoring
  • CT Abdominal Angiography
  • CT Mesenteric Angiography
  • CT Splenic Angiography
  • CT Renal Angiography
  • CT Upper & Lower Limbs Angiography
  • CT Brain Venograms
  • CT Upper & Lower Limbs Venograms

Preparation

Please bring any previous diagnostic imaging and reports related to the area.

There may be specific preparations required for some CTA studies. Please call us for more information.

Appointment required.

However, we will accommodate for urgent cases to provide same-day appointments and report.

Furthermore, vascular imaging under ultrasound is non-invasive and utilises Doppler sonography to assess the blood flow in the major arteries and veins in the body.

NIA Diagnostic Imaging BULK-BILLS and performs the following vascular ultrasound studies:

  • Upper & Lower Limb/s Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Doppler Ultrasound
  • Upper & Lower Limb/s Arterial Doppler Ultrasound
  • Lower Limb/s Venous Insufficiency/Incompetency Doppler Ultrasound
  • Incompetent Perforator Marking for Surgery
  • Carotid Doppler Ultrasound
  • Temporal Artery Doppler Ultrasound
  • Abdominal Aorta Doppler Ultrasound
  • Abdominal Venous Doppler Ultrasound
  • Renal Doppler Ultrasound

Preparation

Please bring any previous diagnostic imaging and reports related to the area.

Renal Doppler Ultrasound: Fast for minimum 12 hours prior to the scan. Drink 1 litre of water 1 hour prior to the scan, but NOT required to hold water.

Otherwise, usually there are no specific preparations required for all other vascular Doppler ultrasound studies.

Appointment required.

However, we will accommodate for urgent cases to provide same-day appointments and report.
