Paediatric Imaging

Paediatric imaging is a subspeciality of diagnostic imaging that focuses on babies, toddlers, and adolescents.

At NIA Diagnostic Imaging, our friendly staff are all trained in working with paediatric patients of all ages. This means that we are trained in providing good communication and patient care to help alleviate anxiety that often comes with paediatric patients.

We provide and BULK-BILL the following paediatric imaging:

  • Abdominal Ultrasound
  • Renal Ultrasound
  • Assessment for Pyloric Stenosis
  • Paediatric Ultrasound for Assessment of Hip Dysplasia
  • Neonatal & Early Infantile Head Ultrasound
  • Neonatal & Early Infantile Spine Ultrasound

Preparation

Please bring any previous diagnostic imaging and reports related to the area.

For ALL paediatric imaging, it is ideal to bring a dummy or comforter to help in alleviating anxiety and distress in paediatric patients. This enables better patient cooperation and in turn, aides in producing high quality diagnostic images.

Abdominal Ultrasound

  • Up to 12 months old: Fast for minimum 4 hours prior to the scan
  • 13 months old or older: Fast for minimum 6 hours prior to the scan
